Pair of Preferreds at Freehold Saturday
Posted 1837 days
Freehold Raceway’s got an 11-race card this Saturday, with the preferred handicap trot and the preferred handicap pace serving as the co-features.
The preferred trot is scheduled as the sixth race, and features a field of seven battling it out. Money Maven was the winner of the most recent preferred at Freehold, back on October 12. In his last start, he broke stride not long after the start in the preferred trot at Yonkers Raceway. Three starts back, he won a NW $20,000 trot at the New York oval. Andy Miller will drive from the outside post for trainer Julie Miller.
Lean Hanover, for trainer Linda Toscano, looks like the most formidable rival. He’s won two of his last four starts, both at Yonkers. He was assigned post position six for his Freehold debut. Jim Marohn Jr. will be in the bike.
The preferred pace will go as the eighth race, and also attracted seven entries. The clear headliner is Lyons Steel, coming off a dominant win in the preferred last week. He’s won three times since Freehold’s re-opening on August 30. He’ll leave from post position seven, with driver Jack Baggitt Jr for trainer Dennis Watson.
The first of eleven races at Freehold on Saturday will be at 12:30 PM EST.
